The Agnes Kagure Foundation (AKFO) is taking bold steps to fight gender-based violence (GBV) and support survivors across communities.

In a video shared on Facebook, the foundation showcased its partnership with Community Health Promoters, offering a safe and supportive space for victims of GBV.

Through this initiative, survivors can share their stories, access counseling, get legal help, and even receive financial support to start small businesses and rebuild their lives.

One of AKFO’s partners, Jane Muthoni Mwangi, delivered a powerful message in the video, urging Kenyans to stop turning a blind eye to GBV.

“Whenever you see or hear of a GBV case, don’t keep quiet. Speak up and take action. Silence only makes the situation worse,” Jane said passionately.

“At AKFO, we are enhancing our partnerships with community groups, leaders, CBOs, Community Health Promoters, and like-minded organizations to transform society and tackle issues like GBV and poverty,” the foundation wrote on Facebook.

What makes this initiative stand out is its focus on empowering survivors beyond just short-term help. For victims who need a fresh start, AKFO offers financial support to help them kick off small businesses, ensuring they can regain independence and stability.

The foundation is now calling on all Kenyans to join the movement. “Let’s realize the change we need,” they said, encouraging everyone to speak up and take action whenever they witness GBV.

With cases of GBV on the rise, AKFO’s work couldn’t come at a better time.

By speaking out, supporting survivors, and working together, there’s hope for a safer and more just future. It’s a call to action for everyone—because real change starts with all of us.
