Its now emerging that former Cabinet Secretaries who served under former President Uhuru Kenyatta might not be idle after being sent home.

President William Ruto on Tuesday retired almost all the ministers, only retaining two; Simon Chelugui and Monica Juma, who served in Uhuru’s regime.

Among the big names now going home is ex-Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, who has now been replaced with former Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki.

But it’s emerging that he has since secured a job with the United Nations, and plans on proceeding to accept it now that he has been relieved of his duties.

The Star has established that the only thing standing between him and his new job is the handover, after which he will be doing something new.

The paper has found out that he will be using his remaining time to focus on his projects which have bee ongoing in his rural home.

The other one is outgoing Education CS George Magoha, a urologist, who had earlier said that leaving the cabinet won’t render him jobless, as he will be going back to his clinic at the Nairobi Hospital

Matiang’i’s ejection was expected, considering that he was among the ministers who were vocally campaigning against Ruto before the elections.

He was also on several occasions seen engaging Ruto in exchanges, especially after the President, then Uhuru’s deputy, accused him of interfering in the election preparations with the intention of possibly rigging him out in favour of ODM boss Raila Odinga.

He signalled his readiness to hand over as soon as Ruto was confirmed winner, penning a letter to his officials while again denying Ruto’s claims.

“Despite immense criticism, scorn and false accusations of scheming to manipulate and interfere with the General Election, our sector put up a stellar and professional performance in supporting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct the General Election. This has been lauded by election observers and Kenya’s Development Partners,” read the letter in part.
