A new survey by Mwelekeo Insights has put DCP candidate Nelson Havi ahead in the race for the Westlands Constituency Member of Parliament seat. The poll, which looked at how people in Westlands plan to vote in 2027, shows Havi in the lead with 27.6 percent.

He is followed closely by Bernard Mwonyonyo, who got 24.1 percent. The results give a clear picture of how the race is shaping up, with several other candidates also in the running.

How the Candidates Ranked

The survey placed Mike Gumo (ODM) third with 9.7 percent of the support. Three candidates tied in fourth place, each getting 8.3 percent. They are Alex Matere (Linda Mwananchi), Alvin Olando (ODM), and Moses Budamba Mudavadi (UDA). Simon Komu (DCP) came next with 7.5 percent, while Betty Adera (UDA) finished last among the listed candidates with 6.2 percent.

The results show that while Havi and Mwonyonyo are the top contenders, the other candidates still hold a share of the voters’ support.

A Race With Different Parties

The candidates come from different political parties, which makes the contest more interesting. Nelson Havi is linked to the Democracy for the Citizen’s Party, while Bernard Mwonyonyo independent. Mike Gumo runs under the ODM. These parties are the main ones represented in this survey. The mix of parties shows that Westlands voters are weighing different options as they prepare for the next general election.

What the Numbers Suggest

The gap between the top two candidates is small, at just 3.5 percentage points. This means the race is still open, and things could change before 2027.

The large number of candidates also splits the vote, so no single person has a clear majority. For Havi and Mwonyonyo, the focus will be on winning over undecided voters and those supporting the smaller candidates. For the others, there is still room to grow if they can connect with more residents.

Why This Survey Matters

Surveys like this help voters, candidates, and the public understand the mood in a constituency. They show which candidates are gaining ground and which ones need to work harder. While a survey is not the final result, it gives a useful look of where things stand at a particular time.
