Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) raided the Kinanie home of Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s son on Wednesday, April 3, as part of an ongoing investigation into a massive corruption scandal.
While the details surrounding the raid remain unclear, unconfirmed reports suggest that large sums of money were found at the residence.

According to X post by Whistleblower Nelson Amenya, the raid is part of a larger operation targeting senior officials in the Machakos County government over a KES 100 million fraud involving the rehabilitation of 83 dams. Allegedly, the funds were paid to Hayati Construction Company, a firm with reported connections to top officials in Governor Wavinya’s administration.
Social media reports claim that the governor’s son fled the scene during the raid and has since gone into hiding.
However, the EACC has yet to officially confirm whether cash was seized or the whereabouts of the governor’s son.
In connection with the same investigation, Finance Minister Onesmus Kuyu and Energy Chief Officer Abdi Guliye have been arrested.
The authorities conducted searches at their homes and offices in Membley, Masinga, and Machakos, seizing documents, electronics, and computer equipment believed to be linked to the corruption scheme.

Guliye, who previously served as the Chief Officer in charge of Water, was involved during the period when the dam contracts were awarded.
Both Kuyu and Guliye are currently being held at the EACC’s Integrity Centre in Nairobi for questioning.
The raid on the governor’s son’s property has cast a renewed spotlight on Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s administration, already under scrutiny after similar allegations surfaced in 2024.
At that time, the governor was forced to deny false claims of money laundering after reports emerged suggesting that she and her son had been detained in the UK, a rumor she quickly debunked.
As of now, Governor Wavinya Ndeti has not made any official comment regarding the raid or the ongoing investigation. EACC officials have stated that the investigation is still active, with the possibility of further arrests as more details emerge.
