Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika is under fire from local activist Kibet Bull, who has accused her of abandoning the county’s healthcare system.
Taking to his X handle on January 17, Bull criticized Kihika for allegedly overseeing the collapse of War Memorial Hospital, accusing her administration of sending county officials to disconnect life-saving equipment while patients were still being attended to.
Bull further claimed that Kihika’s actions contributed to the deterioration of Nakuru’s health sector, leading to her decision to travel to the United States for childbirth.
The activist’s accusations have sparked widespread public outrage, with many questioning the governor’s commitment to the welfare of Nakuru residents.
Kibet Bull’s remarks come amid growing concerns about the state of healthcare in the region, with residents struggling to access quality medical services. The situation has raised eyebrows, especially considering Kihika’s high-profile position as a public leader.
Governor Kihika, who has remained relatively silent on these allegations, recently clarified her absence from public duties in a statement issued by her office.
In the letter, Kihika explained that she is on maternity leave and assured Nakuru residents that the county’s affairs are being managed by Deputy Governor David Kones in her absence.
However, Bull’s allegations have added fuel to the fire, as many feel that Kihika’s absence during a critical period highlights the governor’s failure to prioritize the well-being of her constituents.
As tensions continue to rise, the governor’s return to office will likely be met with intense scrutiny from both the public and local activists.
