Activist Francis Gaitho has levelled serious allegations against Director of National Intelligence Noordin Haji, accusing him of running illegal detention facilities in Nairobi where abductees are allegedly held without trial.

Through his X account, Gaitho outlined the locations of three purported “black sites” in Garden Estate, Peponi Road, and Mwihoko, near military barracks.

According to Gaitho’s claim, at least 30 other detainees during his time there. The sites are allegedly operated by Administration Police (AP) officers working under Haji’s instructions, with alleged orders coming directly from President William Ruto.

Gaitho further alleged that some detainees have been tortured, with severely wounded individuals being killed and their bodies dumped in Juja quarries or dissolved in acid.

He linked these black sites to recent mysterious disappearances, including that of Denzel Omondi, whose body was found in Ruiru.

The activist has accused a group of Somali business oligarchs of financing the operations through their dominance in the real estate and import sectors. Gaitho urged Kenyans to boycott Eastleigh businesses and avoid purchasing apartments developed by Somali firms.

He also called on families of missing persons to gather at the National Intelligence Service (NIS) headquarters on Thika Road, demanding answers from Haji.

However, Gaitho claimed that ultimate decisions on detainees’ fates rest with President Ruto, alleging that Haji paid KSh 1 billion to secure his position and enjoys impunity.

These explosive claims have sparked public outrage, with many demanding an independent investigation. Both Haji and the government are yet to respond to the allegations.
