Nairobi car dealer Khalif Kairo is in hot water as disgruntled customers come forward with complaints about delays, broken promises, and unpaid supplier debts.

Once a trusted name in the business, Kairo now faces mounting criticism that threatens to sink his reputation.

According to blogger Cyprian Nyakundi, One customer’s ordeal highlights the chaos. After an accident in August 2023, the man sought to replace his vehicle and paid KSh 2.5 million as a deposit for a KSh 5 million car in early September.

Kairo promised delivery in 45 days. However, by October, the car was nowhere in sight, and whispers began circulating that the dealer had failed to deliver a KSh 25 million Range Rover to another client.

Despite the rumours, Kairo assured the customer that the vehicle was on its way. He even showed proof of payment to Japanese suppliers, claiming the car would be shipped by week’s end.

Yet, the vehicle only arrived at the port on December 21st, weeks past the promised timeline.

Things took a darker turn last week when the customer discovered Kairo hadn’t paid his suppliers, who threatened to auction the vehicle to recover their money. The matter has since landed in court, with Kairo blaming competitors for his woes.

This is not an isolated case. More clients are stepping forward, sharing similar stories of delays and unmet promises. Some have accused Kairo of using their deposits to fund personal ventures, leaving them frustrated and out of pocket.
