The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is facing serious allegations of corruption, with Mr. Abdinoor Adan, the head of the Profiling and Targeting department, being named at the heart of the controversy.

According to KoT Sonko, an influencer on X, importers have come forward with claims that KRA officials, under Adan’s leadership, have been demanding bribes, imposing unwarranted penalties, and causing excessive delays in clearance processes.

These allegations, aired on national television (KTN) on November 24, 2024, have sparked widespread concern about the integrity of KRA’s operations.

Reports suggest that Adan’s department has been a focal point for these corrupt practices, with several businesses accusing officials of using their power to extort money from importers.

The ongoing claims, if proven true, suggest a deeply ingrained culture of corruption within KRA that undermines both public trust and economic progress.

Importers have expressed frustration over the extortion tactics, which hinder legitimate business and complicate the trade process.

In response to these accusations, Twitter influencer Mike Sonko has called for immediate action from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

In a post that gained widespread attention, Sonko specifically urged the EACC to launch a thorough investigation into the role of Mr. Abdinoor Adan and other officials involved.

He emphasized the importance of addressing these allegations to restore integrity to KRA.

“The evidence against Adan and his team is concerning,” Sonko wrote.

“The EACC must act swiftly to uncover the full extent of corruption within KRA.”
