Nairobi-based businesswoman Hon. Agnes Kagure via her Agnes Kagure Foundation (AKFO) has once again won the hearts of many after conducting a menstrual related event in Kangemi in Nairobi where she educated young girls about the sensitive topic that has continued to see many face stigma.
“Menstruation has long been a taboo subject, only whispered about and ignored in terms of support and funding. But this is changing fast,” said Hon. Agnes Kagure, a strong supporter of menstrual health.
In the recent past, Hon Agnes Kagure via her Agnes Kagure Foundation has been running empowerment programs across various parts of Nairobi, such as issuing Sanitary pads. She has also continued to prove that her love towards girl-child empowerment is undeterred by conducting interactive sessions which aim at enlightening women and girls in various parts of Nairobi.

Nevertheless, the Kangemi event that took place on June 15 has undoubtedly showed how partnerships can drive social change and stressed the need for safe menstrual hygiene practices.
“The presence of AKFO members in Kangemi today shows our commitment to this cause,” Kagure said. The event included workshops on menstrual health, distribution of sanitary products, and open discussions to end the stigma around menstruation.
By providing a platform for these important talks, the initiative aimed to give girls and women the knowledge and resources they need.
The event’s impact went beyond immediate help. It highlighted the larger goal of creating a supportive community where menstrual health is openly discussed and prioritised.

“The Mt. View Women Network has shown that through working together, we can make great progress in ending period shame and improving access to menstrual products for our girls,” Kagure noted.
Looking back on the event’s success, Kagure expressed her gratitude and commitment to future efforts. “I’m happy that AKFO could support this event, and I look forward to supporting more for the benefit of our people,” she said.
Other than Kangemi event, Hon Agnes Kagure has been running other empowerment programs such as Mental Health, sponsoring bright and needy students across various parts of Nairobi among other activities that are supposed to be conducted by elected leaders who appear to have gone missing.
