Mambo Mseto has exclusively reported that the death toll from the ongoing floods in Nakuru county has tragically risen by 45. These floods have triggered devastating mudslides in various parts of the county, causing widespread destruction and loss of life.

Local residents, who spoke out this afternoon, expressed their frustration and disappointment with Deputy President Hon. Gachagua. They feel deceived since last month when he announced that a substantial amount of Kshs 4 billion had been allocated for the aid of flood victims. However, they claim that they have not seen any significant improvement in their situation.

The situation took a turn for the worse when a dam in Nakuru County burst its banks after weeks of relentless torrential rains. This unfortunate event forced thousands of people to abandon their homes and seek safety elsewhere.

The Naivasha police commander, Stephen Kirui, confirmed that out of the 45 casualties, 17 are minors. He added that search and rescue operations are currently underway.

In response to this escalating crisis, the Azimio-One Kenya Coalition leaders, earlier today, urged President William Ruto to declare the floods a National disaster. They also called upon the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to commence rescue missions immediately.

Rescue teams on the ground reported that five vehicles were trapped in the mud, but they managed to retrieve the bodies.

An official on the ground stated, “We expect the numbers to go up as the search and rescue goes on.” The incident, which occurred on Sunday night, has left many people missing. More than 100 people were rushed to the hospital following the tragedy, indicating the severity of the situation.
