Chief Magistrate Hon. Stella Atambo has officially declared her interest in the upcoming elections for the position of Representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Her decision is not only a reflection of her passion to serve but also a response to the growing frustration within the judiciary. Through her heartfelt message to fellow judicial officers and colleagues, she has painted a painful picture of the current state of affairs in the corridors of justice.
According to her, the struggles facing judicial officers have only worsened over time, and something must be done to restore dignity and fairness in the system.

In her previous attempt to vie for the same position about four years ago, Stella Atambo recalls the immense support she received from her peers. Even though she did not win then, she still holds deep gratitude for the overwhelming encouragement and belief in her vision for a better Judiciary.
She emphasized that her campaign then was built on key welfare issues issues that she believes still remain unaddressed to this day. She now returns with a renewed sense of duty and commitment to represent the voices of judicial officers who feel abandoned and voiceless.
She has not held back in describing the level of neglect that has gripped the judicial system. Her statement highlights the dangers judicial officers now face, including life-threatening attacks, with some being shot while discharging their duties in court.

To her, this is the result of inaction and a lack of concern from those in authority. What should be secure spaces of justice have turned into war zones, and memories of such attacks remain too painful for many to bear.
Stella laments that despite clear court orders issued in favor of judicial officers, there is no will to implement them. She questions why these issues are no longer even discussed, calling it a silent betrayal.
On matters of remuneration, she speaks about the heavy financial burden officers endure due to multiple deductions and a lack of meaningful benefits. The push for car grants has been ignored, and many officers are forced to rely on public transport, exposing them to more risks and humiliation.
She further expresses concern about the unfair treatment of Judiciary staff during interviews for judgeship positions. Many deserving candidates, she says, have been turned away without any explanation. The excuse often given, that their numbers make it impossible to address their needs is not only unfair but deeply discouraging.
Stella Atambo says she has heard the cries of her colleagues and believes that change is not only necessary but urgent. She assures her fellow officers that with their support, their issues can be addressed meaningfully.
She has committed to being a leader who listens, acts, and stands firm during hard times. Her campaign is based on hope, responsibility, and honesty. She pledges not to give excuses or turn her back on those who elect her.
She concludes her statement with a humble request for prayers, support, and votes. She promises to be accountable and transparent.
Her message is clear she wants to be a representative for everyone, both as a collective and as individuals.
