Kileleshwa residents are in an uproar after allegations surfaced that their MCA, Robert Alai, is behind a controversial land-grab operation in the area.
According to activist Francis Gaitho, the drama centers around a piece of land opposite Geco Restaurant, which was once owned by the TelePosta Pension Scheme (TPS).
This land, which included an open space used as a playground by the community, was sold to tenants—but now, it’s at the center of a heated dispute.
Gaitho claims that on Tuesday, Alai hired 50 goons from Kibera to come and fence off the land, despite having no legal documents to back up their claim. The hired men allegedly posed as representatives of TPS, but when residents tried to question them, they were met with violence and threats.
Gaitho also alleges that Alai received 3 million shillings from a Somali “investor” to fund the operation, which raises even more questions about the MCA’s involvement.
