Barely hours after police IG Hon Japheth Koome urged drivers to be careful on roads and vowed to collaborate with police to arrest anybody who will be caught violating traffic rules, media reports have revealed that another police officer attached to the Gigiri police station lost his life in a tragic accident along the Uhuru Highway on a Saturday morning.
Shadrack Otieno Genga was heading to Mlolongo from the City Centre direction when the self-involved accident occurred. The incident has left the local community in shock and mourning.
According to a police report filed at the Industrial area police station, Officer Genga lost control of his vehicle while navigating the road. As a result, his car veered off the road and into a roundabout, causing the vehicle to overturn. Tragically, the officer was thrown from the vehicle and landed on the tarmac road, where he sustained severe head injuries that ultimately led to his untimely death.

The scene of the accident was quickly visited by police officers, who took immediate action to secure the area and investigate the cause of the accident. Officer Genga’s body was moved to Chiromo Mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.
