The ongoing clash between young activists Morara Kebaso and Mercy Tarus has raised concerns over hypocrisy and personal greed within Kenya’s reform movement.

Thirdway Alliance Party leader, Dr. Ekuru Aukot, has directly accused his brother Morara of seeking personal gain under the guise of championing change.

Aukot revealed that Morara, who claimed to have been contacted by President William Ruto, was in fact actively pursuing government deals to abandon his political tours. “We must call out such levels of hypocrisy if we are to maintain the credibility of this cause,” Aukot stated, adding that there is credible evidence showing Morara reaching out to government officials for personal negotiations.

Aukot also questioned Morara’s commitment to the cause, criticizing his constant fundraising efforts and lack of focus on stalled government projects.

“When he’s not seeking a car, he is seeking a house, furniture, or upkeep from Kenyans,” Aukot remarked, highlighting the personal nature of his brother’s demands.

He warned that self-aggrandizement is damaging the reform agenda and urged young activists not to allow themselves to be used for political expediency. Aukot emphasized the need for genuine efforts in Kenya’s push for political change.

All the same, Kenyans have been cautioned to be wary about Morara Kebaso’s operations with many questioning why he stopped doing de-launch tours and is now focussed on building an empire around him using the money Kenyans are sending to him.

Also to many, Morara Kebaso has zero authority to lecture pres William Ruto owing to the fact that he has been seen in his campaign rallies since 2022 and many now see him as a person who is bitter after the Govt failed to employ him or his close associates.
