Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen is facing growing criticism over his handling of national security and his remarks about the struggles of young Kenyans.
Many feel he has failed in his job, choosing political talk over real action while insecurity continues to rise.
Under Murkomen’s watch, Al-Shabaab attacks have increased, kidnappings are on the rise, and Kenyans are feeling less safe. Instead of taking responsibility, he has been busy giving speeches and blaming others.

His recent focus has been on warning young people about “misusing social media” rather than tackling crime and insecurity.
Murkomen has also downplayed the struggles of Gen Z, saying they are suffering from mental health problems and alcoholism.
This has angered many, as he appears to be mocking the youth instead of addressing the real issues they face unemployment, poor governance, and a lack of opportunities.
Young people helped put this government in power, yet now they are being ignored and ridiculed. While they struggle to afford basic needs, Murkomen and other leaders enjoy the privileges of high office without delivering on their promises.

Critics say he has become too comfortable in government, forgetting the people who put him there.
If Murkomen wants to be taken seriously as a leader, he needs to stop the unnecessary political talk and focus on solving the real problems. Kenyans want action, not excuses.
That said and done, President William Ruto recently appeared to admit the fact that his govt comprises of incompetence officials when he tried to justify why he fired the former Attorney General Justin B Muturi and demoted him to the Cabinet.
One would ask, why would a whole President who receives intelligence briefing on daily basis bank on corrupt and incompetent leaders to lead crucial dockets in his govt?
