Looming trouble for Gachagua, Muturi as State moves to invoke ‘Hidden Law’ against them

A big trouble is looming for the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former Cabinet Secretary of Public Service Justin Muturi, after fresh details have emerged showing that the government is now planning to use a ‘secret law’ to silence them ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The report, published by Taifa Leo today, has revealed that there are serious internal discussions going on within President William Ruto’s circle, with top government operatives pushing to activate a law that requires all public officers whether serving or retired to keep government matters private for life.

This law, which is rarely talked about in public, is now being brought up as a tool to shut down any further criticism or exposure from Gachagua and Muturi, both of whom have become increasingly vocal since falling out with the president. The two former senior officials have in recent weeks openly attacked key government institutions, including the powerful National Intelligence Service (NIS), raising alarm within the State House and intelligence corridors.

Their statements, seen by some as bitter and confrontational, are now being treated not just as political noise but as threats to national security.

Sources quoted by Taifa Leo indicate that the government is not just worried about political embarrassment but is deeply concerned that the two could spill classified information to the public or opposition figures. Such disclosures could weaken the presidency’s grip ahead of the next elections.

Ruto’s allies are therefore considering applying this secret law as a legal muzzle to keep the two in check. While the law itself is not new, its sudden resurrection seems clearly targeted, especially given the timing just as the political temperatures begin to rise in preparation for 2027.

The move also signals a growing fear within the government that more former insiders could break ranks and speak out. If Gachagua or Muturi are allowed to continue speaking freely, others might follow.

Already, whispers of dissent are being heard from various quarters, with more politicians who were once loyal to Ruto now starting to distance themselves. Silencing Gachagua and Muturi through the use of an obscure legal clause could therefore serve as a warning to others.

For now, neither Gachagua nor Muturi has officially responded to the report. But if this plan goes ahead, it will mark yet another moment where politics and state power clash in a battle of silence and survival.

The coming weeks could determine whether the two remain vocal or are forced into a corner where even words are not allowed.
