Barely a day after a group of 48 MPs from Mt Kenya region endorsed Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki as their link to the executive via a move many say is one of the large plot to shape the politics of 2027, the latter is now facing serious accusations after a viral post on X (formerly Twitter) linked him to corruption, impunity, and unresolved murders in Tharaka Nithi County.
An influencer known as Kimuzi posted a thread on X, labelling Kindiki as “one of the most dangerous men in Kenya”.

Despite his soft-spoken demeanour, Kimuzi alleged that Kindiki hides behind his calm persona while enabling lawlessness.
This comes at a time when Kindiki’s political career is on the rise, especially following the Mt Kenya MPs’ endorsement, which has sparked speculation that he could be groomed for a higher role in government ahead of the 2027 elections.
However, these political advancements have also raised concerns, with critics questioning Kindiki’s record as the Interior CS, especially in matters of security and governance.

Furthermore, Kimuzi’s post brought attention to Kindiki’s home county of Tharaka Nithi, a region often noted for its significant role in elections. However, the accusations went beyond politics, delving into corruption scandals and unresolved crimes in the area, raising further doubts about Kindiki’s leadership.
In his thread, Kimuzi accused Kindiki of turning a blind eye to corruption in Tharaka Nithi.
Also, Governor Muthomi Njuki was singled out for his alleged involvement in a major financial scandal linked to an illegal tender awarded to WESTOMAXX Ltd. The deal reportedly siphoned off 70% of the county’s budget, with Njuki accused of continuing to misuse public resources under the protection of senior figures like Kindiki.
Other politicians from the county, including Tharaka MP George Murugara and Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki, were also criticised for being part of Ruto’s political network, accused of advancing their personal interests over the needs of their constituents.
Among the most concerning allegations raised by Kimuzi were three suspicious deaths in Tharaka Nithi, which have yet to be fully investigated. These deaths occurred after the Ruto administration came into power, with Kindiki at the helm of the Interior Ministry.
The first case involved Francis Kiambi Matanka, a prominent businessman and owner of Patiala Distillers Ltd., who was found dead in his Karen home after a night out with friends and his wife. Kiambi, who previously vied for political office in Tharaka Nithi, was a competitor in the alcohol distribution industry, and Kimuzi suggested his death was no accident.
The second case was that of Felix Gitari Mbiuki, a former gubernatorial candidate and low-key billionaire, who was found dead in his car with a bullet wound to the head. While authorities ruled it a suicide, witnesses reported signs of foul play at the scene, leading to suspicions of a cover-up.
The third case involved Peris Mugera, who was Mbiuki’s personal assistant. She was abducted, tortured, raped, and murdered, her body later dumped in Mwea. Mugera’s death, along with that of a blogger from Meru during the same period, was never thoroughly investigated.
Kimuzi pointed out that all these deaths occurred while Kindiki was in charge of security, yet no significant action has been taken to provide justice for the victims’ families.
As Kindiki’s political star rises, so do the calls for him to answer for these accusations. Many are left wondering why, despite such a controversial record, he continues to gain power within the Kenya Kwanza government.
