Activist Francis Gaitho has picked war with NIS Director General Noordin Haji, demanding his resignation over alleged human rights abuses and his role in Raila Odinga’s failed African Union Commission (AUC) bid.

Gaitho ignited the storm after sharing a photo where Haji appeared visibly stressed, while Raila watched a screen in Addis Ababa.

The image has fueled speculation about Haji’s presence at the high-stakes election, with critics questioning whether he was working in Raila’s interest or against him.

The activist did not hold back, labeling Haji as “abductor-in-chief” and calling for his immediate resignation alongside Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohammed Amin.

“I expect his resignation together with that of DCI Director Mohammed Amin by Monday latest,” Gaitho declared, adding that the two have overseen a reign of terror, enforced disappearances, and political intimidation.

Meanwhile, Raila Odinga has suffered a resounding defeat to Djibouti’s Mahamoud Youssouf, a loss that has shaken his camp and left many questioning the effectiveness of his campaign team.

Despite intense lobbying, Raila only managed to secure three votes, a result that has sparked outrage among his supporters.

The humiliating loss has also raised concerns about the individuals Raila entrusted with his AUC bid, including Haji, who was reportedly deeply involved in strategy.

Some critics now wonder if Haji’s presence brought bad luck or if he simply failed to deliver on his role.

Haji, a former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), is no stranger to controversy.

His tenure at the helm of NIS has been marred by accusations of running a rogue security network, and his close ties to Raila’s bid have only worsened public perception.

With mounting pressure, all eyes are now on Haji and Amin. Will they step down as demanded, or will this political firestorm explode into something bigger?
