The anti-corruption pressure is rising in Trans Nzoia County as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) moves in to investigate top leaders within the county government.
According to reports by Tuko, the commission has summoned three Members of County Assembly (MCAs) and nine other county officials for questioning. These three MCAs are said to be close allies of Governor George Natembeya, which has raised more questions about how deep the investigations might go and whether the governor himself might be implicated.
This latest move by the EACC comes just days after a dramatic raid at Governor Natembeya’s residence.
The operation ended in confusion after five vehicles belonging to EACC officers were vandalised by unknown individuals. The scene quickly attracted national attention and brought fears that political interference may be at play.

According to people familiar with the case, the officials being questioned are suspected of involvement in misuse of county money. They are also being probed for giving out tenders irregularly and abusing their positions in office.
Governor Natembeya has not given a full response to the ongoing investigations. His silence has created more tension as Kenyans wait to hear his side of the story.
But with his close allies being summoned, it’s clear that the EACC is not just going after low-ranking staff but is also looking at people who hold political influence. The fact that these MCAs are close to the governor means that this case could shake up the entire county leadership if strong evidence is found.
Many have voiced their frustrations over years of unfulfilled promises and poor service delivery. For them, these investigations could finally expose the rot that they believe has been holding back development. But others worry that the investigations may be used as a political tool or may be stopped before the truth comes out.
With high-profile names being mentioned and the EACC showing no signs of slowing down, the political scenes in Trans Nzoia may be about to change. The question is whether justice will be served or if the powerful will find a way to escape accountability once again.
