The MP accused the governor of corruption, stating that the inflated cost resulted in a staggering loss of KSh 444 million.

Owino, in a fiery statement, questioned the rationale behind such purchases, stating that the excessive spending on the lorries comes at a time when the city’s residents are grappling with issues such as unemployment, inadequate healthcare, and lack of bursaries for education.

“Why loot yet Nairobians have no jobs? Why loot yet Nairobians can’t get quality healthcare? Why loot yet Nairobians can’t get bursaries to educate their children?” Owino remarked, condemning what he described as blatant mismanagement of public funds.

The MP further alleged that the governor received a KSh 444 million kickback from the transaction, which he referred to as a form of institutionalized corruption.

This accusation has sparked public outrage, with many residents and political figures calling for a thorough investigation into the matter.

Owino’s statements are likely to fuel ongoing debates about corruption in Nairobi’s leadership, as residents continue to express frustration over the lack of accountability and the misallocation of public resources.

The allegations have yet to be officially addressed by the governor or his office, leaving many questions unanswered and calls for transparency growing louder.
