Agnes Kagure is presenting herself as the kind of leader Nairobi needs calm, focused, and determined to make change happen through purposeful leadership.
Her message is not about making noise or chasing headlines, but about making life better for every resident.
“This city is full of potential, but potential needs leadership to unlock it. Not loud leadership. Not proud leadership. But purposeful leadership. That’s where I come in to help build a Nairobi that works for all, and where no one is left behind.” She posted on Facebook.

These words are not just a campaign slogan. They reflect a deeper mission built on real experiences and a clear plan.
Kagure’s journey began in Nyeri, where she once worked as a housemaid. Her rise to become a successful insurance executive is not just a personal victory but a symbol of the kind of growth and change Nairobi itself needs.
She believes that leaders should understand what ordinary people go through, not just talk about it from far above.
To her, leadership is not about power, but about presence being with the people, hearing them, and responding to their real needs.

Her vision for Nairobi is practical and focused on everyday issues. Traffic jams are a daily struggle for many, and Kagure wants to fix that by reforming public transport. She has promised to work on better coordination between matatus and boda bodas to reduce gridlock and make commuting smoother.
Another major part of her plan is job creation. She wants to create one million jobs in five years, especially targeting young people and entrepreneurs. This goal is not just about numbers but about giving hope and dignity to Nairobi’s unemployed.
Kagure is also committed to improving basic services like water, sanitation, and healthcare. Her plan includes better security through more lighting in wards and making sure every resident can access what they need to live a decent life. This isn’t about grand promises but clear, achievable steps.
Listening plays a big role in Kagure’s approach. She started consultative forums in all of Nairobi’s sub-counties in early 2025, taking time to hear from residents directly. She believes, as she said in one of the forums, “Listening has helped me tailor initiatives that meet real needs…” This way, she builds trust and ensures that her solutions are grounded in real concerns, not just campaign agendas.

She has also been vocal about the need for transparency and humility in leadership. At a church fundraiser in Utawala, she urged fellow leaders to “always remain humble,” showing her belief that leadership should serve, not dominate. Her support for youth-led movements and advocacy groups also shows her focus on accountability and inclusion.
Kagure’s work goes beyond politics. Through the Agnes Kagure Foundation, she has launched a gender-based violence campaign that includes training programs in all 85 wards. This effort highlights men as allies in the fight against GBV and shows how her leadership touches real lives on the ground.
Even when faced with allegations related to an old business deal with a German national, Kagure has remained focused. She reminded supporters that “a dream delayed is not a dream denied,” showing resilience and a refusal to be distracted by politics.
Her ability to stay on course in difficult moments proves that she is not just campaigning she’s committed.
Agnes Kagure stands out because she combines a strong plan with a grounded approach. She focuses on goals that can be measured, listens to the people she wants to serve, and builds programs that deal with real problems like joblessness and gender violence.
She also builds coalitions, working with elders and groups from different backgrounds to unite the city. In a time when many leaders speak loudly but say little, Kagure offers something different leadership that is quiet but effective, humble but strong.
Her message about building a Nairobi that works for everyone is not just words it’s the foundation of her campaign.
With her experience, commitment, and focus, Agnes Kagure shows that purposeful leadership is not just possible, but necessary for Nairobi’s future.
