Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused President William Ruto of orchestrating a dangerous scheme to manipulate the 2027 elections.
According to Gachagua, the President is banking on reducing Mount Kenya’s voter numbers by flooding the region with illicit alcohol.
Speaking during a church service in Naivasha, Gachagua didn’t hold back, alleging that Ruto had ordered the reopening of alcohol factories previously shut down for producing harmful brews.

He claimed these factories have been instructed to sell their products exclusively in Mount Kenya.
“Let me tell you what’s happening. The Interior Security PS was told to reopen these factories, and now the alcohol is being sold only here. Just yesterday, three people in Bahati lost their lives to these deadly drinks,” Gachagua said, his tone heavy with frustration.
He painted the move as a calculated strategy to weaken the region’s political power by destroying its youth and shrinking its voter base.
Chiefs and police, he alleged, have been instructed to allow the sale of the illicit alcohol unchecked.

“This isn’t just immoral; it’s a direct attack on our community. Poisoning our youth to win an election? It’s unacceptable,” Gachagua added, his words echoing in the church hall.
He didn’t stop there. Gachagua called on the President to visit Mount Kenya, face the growing anger, and explain his actions.
“Come and tell these people why you’re sending poisonous alcohol to kill their children. These are the same people who voted for you,” he challenged.
The claims have added a new layer of tension to the political landscape.
Whether true or not, Gachagua’s remarks have stirred emotions and left many asking tough questions about the intersection of governance, ethics, and politics.
